unconventional pumpkin day

this about sums up many of my halloweens, unlike everyone else's way. i spent years jonesing for a box costume; fat chance with a foreign mother who could sew really well without a pattern. the good thing was every halloween i had a new cape. did you know "the night sky" wear's a cape? yip! and wins prizes. just not sure if the "most creative" really meant "let's make her feel accepted standing next to a dozen cinderellas and snow whites." i accepted my "most creative" costume prize; a large Three Musketeers and told my outside-the-box-mother, we won, bracing myself for next year's creation. how about the Jolly Green Giant?
